It sounds counter-intuitive at first. How does tuning an engine make it use less fuel? The answer is that consumption is largely about how hard the engine has to work to do what you are asking of it.
How a map can save fuel at all
By building torque lower in the rev range, an economy map lets the engine do the same job at fewer revs and with less throttle.
You change up sooner. You hold higher gears on climbs. You stop dropping a gear every time the road rises. On a laden van or a heavy motorhome, that difference is substantial, and it is the same mechanism whether you notice it at the pump or just in how relaxed the vehicle feels.
Whether you actually see it
A map creates the opportunity for better economy. Whether you see it depends almost entirely on what you do with the extra torque.
Drivers who use it to go faster generally see no improvement at all, and that is not a failure of the map. It is why we will not put a percentage on it before we have seen the vehicle, and why we do not publish “up to X% saving” figures.

How much fuel can I realistically save?
Results vary by vehicle, engine type, and driving style. Diesel engines on motorway/A-road driving typically see the biggest benefit. Gains of 8–15% are achievable; we don't guarantee specific figures as driving behaviour plays a significant role.
Will my car feel less powerful after an economy remap?
Not necessarily. Low-rev torque often improves, making the car feel more responsive in everyday conditions. Peak power may be similar to or slightly below standard, the goal is efficiency, not maximum output.
Is an economy remap worth it for short journeys?
Short urban journeys offer the least benefit, the efficiency gains are most pronounced at steady speeds. For predominantly city driving, the return may be limited.
Can I switch between an economy and performance map?
