Renault has two quite separate identities in Britain, and we work with both. The Trafic, Master and Kangoo vans are workhorses covering serious mileage for trades and couriers. Then there’s the performance side, the Mégane RS has a long and genuinely well-earned reputation as one of the best hot hatches ever made.

The dCi diesels in the commercial range respond well to an economy-focused map: better efficiency at cruising revs and more low-down torque, which matters when a van is loaded all day.

The RS side

At the other end, the turbocharged RS models are natural candidates for a Stage 1 remap or full performance remapping, sharper throttle response and a stronger mid-range, on a chassis that can more than handle it.

Whichever end you’re at, the file is written for your exact model, engine and ECU, and the car can always be put back to standard. We come to you across the South West.

What changes

What a remap changes on a Renault

Peak figures are the number people quote. The shape of the delivery is the number they feel. A well-written map builds torque earlier and holds it longer, which is why owners describe the car as easier to drive rather than simply faster.

How much there is to work with depends on the engine rather than the badge. Petrol and diesel behave quite differently, and a naturally aspirated engine has far less headroom than a turbocharged one. We will tell you what to expect for your exact variant before you book, and a Stage 1 remap is where most owners start.

Standard versus mapped torque delivery An illustrative line chart with unnumbered axes. The standard curve rises later and peaks lower. The mapped curve rises earlier, peaks higher and stays flatter for longer, with the difference between them shaded. Illustrative only, and deliberately unnumbered. The shape is the point: a good map builds torque earlier and holds it longer, which is why the change is felt in the mid-range rather than at the top end.
Questions

Renault remapping FAQs

Do you remap Renault Trafic vans?

Yes, Trafics are a regular part of our van work. Most owners choose an economy-led map for fuel costs and loaded pulling power.

Is the Mégane RS worth tuning?

It's a strong candidate, a well-sorted turbo engine in a chassis that can handle more. We'll give you realistic figures for your exact version.

Can you help with dCi running faults?

Yes, we start with full diagnostics to find the actual cause, then advise on the right fix rather than jumping straight to a map.
