Toyota Remapping & ECU Tuning

Toyota’s reputation in Britain is built on durability, and nowhere more than the Hilux, a pickup with a genuine reputation for surviving anything. Alongside it, the Land Cruiser does serious towing and off-road work, the Proace covers the van side, and the RAV4 and Auris handle family duty.

The D-4D diesels are the ones we’re asked about most, and for a familiar reason: owners want more usable torque for towing and carrying, and less strain when the vehicle is working hard. A map written for that specific vehicle delivers exactly that.

A note on hybrids

Toyota is also Britain’s biggest hybrid seller, and hybrids and EVs generally aren’t suitable for conventional remapping in the way a turbodiesel is. If you’ve got a hybrid, tell us the model and we’ll let you know where you stand.

For the diesels, economy remapping suits high-mileage and towing work, and a Stage 1 remap is the balanced all-rounder. We also handle diagnostics and engine solutions. Fully mobile; always reversible.

Locked ECUs on 2021-onward Toyota

Toyota models built from 2021 onward often run a Bosch MDG1 ECU, and until recently those were locked. The unit would accept an official update but would not give up its own software, so it had to come out of the vehicle and be posted to a specialist to be unlocked before any tuning could start.

That step can now be done on the bench in the same visit, which takes the postage, the separate unlock fee and the days of waiting out of the job. On the Toyota side the covered models include the Proace City.
