Audi TT ECU — Boot Mode Programming (K-TAG)

A boot mode job on this Audi TT’s ECU — a Bosch ME7.5 unit that needed the full read/write access boot mode gives, rather than a standard bench connection. The casing came off and our K-TAG tool connected directly to the board to back up and rewrite the software.

What was involved

• ECU removed and opened on the bench
• K-TAG connected directly to the circuit board (boot mode)
• Full backup taken before any changes were made
• Software read, remapped and written back, ECU refitted and refitted to the car
